The dream to construct building flexibly for public and private habitation has been under way since 2004. The technology uses large 3D printers to construct/print buildings in remarkably lesser time than usually taken by the normal construction technique. The method has been successfully demonstrated by working versions of 3D printers that were able to print 2 m of building materials per hour. Later on a Chinese company WinSun built 10 one-room houses within 24 hrs at US $5,000 cost.
Many Dutch and Chinese company has built houses successfully using 3D printers, but the New York City Architect and Contractor Adam Kushner is going to exceed them all. The owner of company D-Shape, Enrico Dini and Kushner are teaming up to construct/print first ever 3D printed estate featuring a 3D printed swimming pool, 4-bedroom, 2400 sq. feet home, and more.
3D printing of the entire estate in Gardiner, New York will be done by KUSHNER Studios. It has planned to work in 3 stages for construction for the project that may be later called as the one that brought 3D printing to mainstream of construction industry.
Step1:- The POOL
Anticipated date of start- late Feb or early Mar.
The pool will be in complete compression, water on the inside and soil on the outside.
Artificial reefs will be created using 3D printers.
Step2:-The POOL HOUSE
Anticipated date of start- next summer.
Enclosing the pool house will be done with appropriate structural analysis.(*additional tensile forces expected)
Additional material like fiber, aluminium strands etc will be added into concrete mixture to add tensile strength.(*mainly for roof)
Step3:- The 2400 sq. feet HOUSE
Anticipated date of start- about a year later from now.
Till date none has printed the building as a whole but Kushner wants to get the whole done. His major concern is to install rebars within the structure.
